Prince Albert II of Monaco has recently added a state-of-the-art private jet to his fleet, valued at up to 50 million euros. This latest acquisition underscores the necessity for the Prince to effectively fulfill his official duties as the head of state.
Specifications and Capabilities
The new jet, a Dassault Aviation Falcon 7X, was officially unveiled on the tarmac of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport on March 5, 2013. The event was attended by Prince Albert II, his wife Princess Charlène, and Princesses Charlène and Caroline, highlighting the importance of this addition to the Grimaldi family’s fleet.
The Dassault Falcon 7X is a cutting-edge aircraft known for its long-range capabilities, able to fly 11,000 kilometers non-stop. The jet’s price, though not officially disclosed, typically ranges between 40 and 50 million euros, depending on the customization of its interior.
At the ceremony, Prince Albert II emphasized the jet’s importance, stating:
“This aircraft constitutes for me a precious tool for the accomplishment of my role as head of state.”
Acknowledging the environmental impact of jet travel, Prince Albert II has initiated a program to offset the greenhouse gases emitted by the aircraft. This program aims to fund various humanitarian projects, aligning with the Prince’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Accommodations and Future Use
Thanks to a 30-year agreement with the Principality, the aircraft will be housed at Nice airport, which has been specially built for it. This is a practical solution, as Monaco currently has no airport and exclusively uses a helipad to provide air transportation.
Prince Albert II’s purchase of the Dassault Falcon 7X reflects a combination of modern luxury and practical necessity. By investing in this state-of-the-art aircraft, the Prince is ensuring that his duties are carried out efficiently and is also taking steps to reduce his environmental impact, reaffirming his commitment to both his duties and global environmental concerns.
