Riviera Events: Vallauris hosts winners of Spain’s El Vendrell competition
Award winning artists to the Côte
The Riviera town of Vallauris has been chosen to host an exhibition of ceramic works by winners of the prestigious El Vendrell Ceramics competition.
Famous for its pottery, the Catalan town in Spain has run the contest since 2001. In a bid to promote this art genre, the town arranges for the winners to come together for an exhibition in another well known ceramics venue in Europe, such as Vallauris.
Rebecca Maeder from Switzerland, Petra Benndorf of Germany and Biot-based Rachèle Rivière of France took honours in 2007, and some 20 pieces illustrate the universes of these three artists.
The exhibition is on in the Salle d’exposition of the Grandjean Espace, Avenue du Stade, Vallauris until 16 January 2010. Entry is free and it is open from 10am to 12.30pm, and 2pm to 6pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
